Saint Maroun Monastery (Majdal El Meouch)

About this site

Saint Maroun Monastery is a Maronite monastery in Majdal El Meouch, Chouf District. Dedicated to Saint Maroun, the fifth-century Syrian hermit considered founder of the Maronite tradition. Majdal El Meouch — "Tower of Salvation" in Aramaic — once sheltered Patriarchs Douaihy and Makhlouf, who founded two other churches in the village during their years of refuge here.
