Deir El Qamar

About this site

Our Lady of the Hill Church, known as Saydet Al Talle, is a Maronite church perched above Deir El Qamar. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, venerated here for centuries by Druze and Christians alike, who once called it the "Church of the Virgin of the Druze." Deir El Qamar was the capital of the Emirate of Mount Lebanon in the 16th to 18th centuries, home to a mosque, synagogue, and churches side by side.
