Theotokos Dormition Church is the main Greek Orthodox parish in Baskinta, Metn District, under the leadership of Father George Freiha. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary's Dormition, celebrated August 15th with crowds from across the surrounding villages, the parish also oversees three smaller Baskinta churches dedicated to Saint George, Saint Mamas, and Saint Elias. Baskinta is a literary and cultural touchstone village at the foot of Mount Sannine, long associated with Lebanese writers and poets.
