Saint Anne Church (Hasroun)

About this site

Saint Anne Church is a Maronite parish church in Hasroun, a mountain town in the Bsharri District of North Lebanon known as the "Rose of the Mountain." Hasroun sits at around 1,420 meters on a cliff above the Qadisha Valley, the Holy Valley that sheltered Maronite monks and hermits for centuries, and is known for its red-tiled stone houses, old souk and orchards of apple and cherry trees. The church is dedicated to Saint Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary, whose feast the Maronite Church celebrates on July 25. It is one of several historic churches in the town, alongside the churches of Our Lady and Saint Jude, and lies a short distance from Diman, the summer seat of the Maronite Patriarchate.
