Our Lady of Jezzine (Saydet el Maabour) stands at the western entrance of Jezzine. The statue of the Virgin Mary, sculpted by Youssef Ghossoub, was inaugurated on 8 May 1955 and has since become one of the town's best-known religious landmarks. The name "el Maabour" recalls the historic river crossing once used to reach the site. Holding the key to Jezzine in her hand, the Virgin overlooks Bkassine, Wadi Jezzine, the Bkassine Pine Forest, and the valley below. While the shrine welcomes crowds of worshippers during the Feast of the Assumption on 15 August, its local feast is traditionally celebrated on the second Sunday of May. Jezzine itself rises above a dramatic cliff and is renowned for its spectacular seasonal waterfalls, earning the nickname "City of Falls."
