Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation (Beirut)

Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation is a Greek Orthodox parish church in Achrafieh, Beirut, belonging to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Beirut of the Patriarchate of Antioch. Consecrated in 1927, it is one of the largest Greek Orthodox churches in the capital and has long served as a central parish for the Orthodox community of Achrafieh, one of Beirut's oldest Christian quarters. The church is dedicated to the Annunciation, when the Archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she would bear Christ, a feast the Orthodox Church celebrates each year on March 25 as one of its Great Feasts. It stands a short walk from Saint Joseph Church of the Jesuits and the Monot quarter, within a dense area of historic churches, schools and early 20th-century houses.
