Saint Vartan Church is an Armenian Apostolic church in the Tiro quarter of Bourj Hammoud. Dedicated to Vartan Mamikonian, the general who led Armenian forces at the Battle of Avarayr in defense of the Christian faith. Bourj Hammoud rose along the Beirut River as a refuge for genocide survivors, becoming the beating heart of Armenian life in Lebanon.
