Born Marie-Françoise-Thérèse Martin in Alençon, France, she entered the Discalced Carmelite convent in Lisieux at just fifteen. She lived a hidden life of prayer within its walls, developing what she called the "Little Way" — the belief that small, everyday acts of love could be a path to holiness accessible to anyone. She died of tuberculosis at twenty-four, having promised, "I will spend my heaven doing good on earth." Declared a Doctor of the Church in 1997, she remains one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic world, with devotion to her strong across Lebanon's Roman Catholic community.
