Chiyah
About this site
Saint Michael Church is a Maronite church in Chiyah, Baabda. Dedicated to the Archangel Michael, protector and leader of the heavenly hosts in Christian tradition. Chiyah is a densely built suburb on Beirut's southern edge, home to a religiously mixed community. The church was damaged during Lebanon's civil war and later restored by returning parishioners, becoming a symbol of the community's resilience. Saint Michael remains the parish's patron, with the neighborhood's identity closely tied to his feast and protection.
