Saint Elias Antonine Monastery

About this site

Saint Elias Antonine Monastery is a Maronite monastery in Kneiseh, Baabda District, built in the early 1850s. Dedicated to the Prophet Elijah, venerated across Maronite, Orthodox, Melkite, and Muslim communities alike in Lebanon. Kneiseh — literally "the church" in Arabic — sits in the hills above Baabda, its monastery now a retreat and formation center for the Antonine Order.
