
Saint Anthony the Great
Biography
Anthony withdrew into the Egyptian desert to live in solitude and prayer, attracting followers whose communities laid the foundation for Christian monastic life. His influence spread widely into the Eastern Churches, and monasteries and churches across Lebanon carry his name.
